There are several materials needed to pursue and achieve IS-BAO certification, including a General Company Operations Manual (GCOM) or a Company Operations Manual (COM). For operators using the GCOM template they will need to modify the manual themselves. When customizing the template, it is a much easier process if operators have several materials and pieces of information on hand. We have developed this companion guide to serves as a preparation resource for working with the template, covering:
- Materials needed
- Key considerations
- Questions to ask yourself as you work in the template
This will make it easy for you to customize the GCOM effectively for your operation.
Before you begin: What you need to know
- The latest IS-BAO standards: Download a copy from your operator portal on the IBAC website.
- Training: It is highly recommended that a representative of your organization completes the IS-BAO Initial Training Course online workshop to gain familiarity about the IS-BAO standard before working on the template.
- You can view workshop dates at the following website: https://tools.ibac.org/workshops
- Teamwork: Collaborate as a team while customizing the GCOM – the more perspectives you have from across your organization, the more accurate your document will be.
Keep in mind
The GCOM template contains comment bubbles that include considerations as you customize the document. You may use these along with the checklist as guidance to make the process easier and faster.
If you are looking to obtain IS-BAO certification but would like to eliminate the paperwork required to get there, Nimbl can provide your COM in place of the GCOM, so you don’t have to manage tasks leading up to IS-BAO certification alone.
